October First Friday in Denver is TONIGHT! And BONUS: the Best (Cheapest) Downtown Denver Parking Secret!

OK kids, it’s our favorite time of the month, FIRST FRIDAY! All the Arts Districts in Denver (Santa Fe, Rino, Golden Triangle) will be in full swing. Yea I know, it’s chilly. Time to break out the Fall boots and sweaters and go see some art!

In addition to all the art happenings, there is also the (Free) The Four Mile Historic Park Pumpkin Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th from 10am to 4pm. The festival is located at 715 South Forest Street. Yes, Halloween is a mere 4 weeks away, time to pick out the perfect pumpkin.

OK, I know this one isn’t free, but MCA is only $5 after 5pm. They are open till 9pm on Fridays, and there is a very entertaining, interactive exhibit at the museum right now. You might want to hurry, as it closes this Sunday. www.mcadenver.org.

And…here is a BIG Downtown Denver Parking tip: The massive parking garage across 15th from MCA is only $3 after 4pm, every day. Best Parking Deal in Town! You can walk just a couple short blocks to 16th street and jump on the free 16th Street Mall Shuttle too. It’s also about a block from Union Station. If you haven’t been since it reopened, you owe it to yourself to go. It’s beautiful. Hint: Take your parking ticket (the one the machine spits out at you at the entry gate) with you, because you’ll pay for the parking upon your return at a standing kiosk next to the elevator in the lobby, not at the car exit.

I know, I’ve Been Neglecting You…but here is your First Friday & Awesome Free Events Line-up for September 4-6!

Dearest Fabulous Readers,

I know I’ve been neglecting you of late, and for that I apologize. The main reason is I just returned from that big crazy arts festival in the desert where we burn things, otherwise known as Burning Man. I brought my Black Rock Portrait Project out there once again, and the prep work for that and for the trip itself was hugely time-consuming, among other things. But I’m back! And here with your September First Friday line-up and awesome Free stuff to do this weekend…

My Favorite Pic for the Weekend…Saturday’s TOUR DE FAT Free Freaky Adult Fun in the Park (City Park that is) with live music, games, and bikes bikes bikes. Bike ride registration is at 10am, the fun in the park rolls all day long. See the full schedule HERE.

Saturday is the monthly Free Day at the Denver Art Museum

I know it’s not technically on the weekend, but Monday is a Free Day at the Museum of Nature & Science.

September is a BIG First Friday night in Denver! The Arts Districts will be in full swing tonight. The weather is cool, so break out your favorite Fall sweater and boots and go see some art tonight. Here is the First Friday line-up courtesy of Denverarts.org…

Denver! Resolving to Spend Less in the New Year? Start with a Bang – January FREE Events

Just because you blew your wad on holiday gifts doesn’t mean you have to stay home in January. There are gee-gobs of FREE Events in Denver January 2014, starting with New Year’s Eve:

Downtown Denver Fireworks
December 31 (9 p.m. and midnight)
The sky will once again sparkle over the 16th Street Mall at the close of 2013 with the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Downtown. The two spectacular fireworks shows will occur at 9 p.m. and midnight. For the best viewpoints, stand along the 16th Street Mall. Costumed entertainers will interact with crowds between shows, including magicians, mascots, balloon artists, stilt walkers, comedians and more. Best of all, it’s not going to be that cold; the evening will be 35-45 degrees and clear. It’s very crowded down there, I recommend taking the Light Rail.

Of Course FIRST FRIDAY will be alive and well on January 3rd at all your favorite Denver Arts Districts.

January cultural FREE DAYS:

Denver Art Museum: Saturday, January 4th (the museum is FREE every first Saturday)

Denver Botanic Gardens (York Street): Monday, January 20th

Denver Museum of Nature & Science: Monday, January 13th

Denver Zoo (3 Days!): Friday, January 10th, Saturday, January 11th, Wednesday, January 22nd
