Happy Halloween! My favorite holiday…I’ll be posting all the fun decor in a 4 part series. Today: The Voodoo Altar! It’s in the entry again, just bigger, badder and more!
I love the voodoo altar this year. We added a few more skulls we found during the year, a bat skeleton from Target ($10) as well as a fun plasma light skull from the thrift store (just $5.99!) The altar is simply a folding table with a side table on top, all draped with sheer black fabric with purple lights underneath. (I’ve been reusing the same fabric for years in different places).
The key items for a good voodoo altar are skulls, bones, bottles, candles, beads and feathers. We added a couple creepy old masks my man made years ago and a real voodoo doll found at the thrift store. The voodoo flags are just printed out at home from a google search for voodoo flags.
Mistress Tia, our resident Voodoo Queen, is an old 1980’s mannequin. I painted her face and dressed her in one of my old handmade Halloween costumes (The amazing leather skulls adorning the headdress and belt and handmade and painted from Artsmyths here in Denver http://www.artsmyths.com http://artsmyths.com/http___www.artsmyths.com/Artsmyths.html
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Part 2 will be coming tomorrow…
