Opening this Saturday April 13th at the Shoppe on Colfax, Bluebird District

If you missed out on the First Friday Art Walks last week, don’t despair…Second Saturday, First Friday’s little brother, is in two days! It’s another great night to get out on the town, see some art, and of course, it’s FREE! (see Part 1, First Friday HERE) As with First Friday, the festivities will start around 6pm and go till about 9pm. To check out the Second Saturdays in your area, just Google your city’s name and “Second Saturday Art Walk”.

Denver-ites: There are a few great Second Saturday areas to visit, though the Rino Arts District is currently the big one with food trucks, music, and lots of open studios and galleries (www.rivernorthart.com). For a fun and funky Second Saturday, head to the Bluebird District on Colfax. Side Note: I live in this neighborhood so I’m at this art walk often. It’s always interesting and lively, and if you’re in the market, there’s great art deals to be had. There are some great restaurants and bars on the street, but the best deal is the $3.50 giant NY Slices at Fat Sully’s/Atomic Cowboy (trust me, you only need one of these big-ass slices). And if you catch Happy Hour (4-7 daily), well drinks are only $3! It’s a great place to start your evening.

You don’t have to wait for First Friday or Second Saturday to check out the local art scene. There are art openings nearly every weekend. The BEST resource for art openings in Denver is Denverarts.org Be sure and sign up for the email list, where you’ll get a weekly email listing all the art openings that week with pictures and information on the galleries and artists.

So get out, talk to artists, soak in some culture and have fun. Have a great weekend!
